Chris G on Steve Sisolak’s Latest Smear Campaign
For Steve Sisolak to insinuate that I am somehow not in favor of tough penalties and increased protections for victims of childhood sexual abuse is disgraceful and repugnant.
In the assembly, I passed legislation to increase penalties for offenders and strengthen protections for victims—including working to save the bill that established lifetime supervision for offenders. As the Vice Chair of Ways and Means, it was my job to get this bill passed and I worked hard to alleviate the concerns of some of my committee members because holding abusers accountable matters. The bill and the amendment referenced passed unanimously in both the assembly and senate.
I haven’t spoken publicly on this, but this issue is deeply personal for me. When I was eight years old, I was sexually abused by an extended family member. It’s something I’ve had to live with every day. My sister was kidnapped, held in a trailer and raped for three days. The perpetrator went to jail where he belonged. Standing up for victims and their families is something I have always done and always will.
This isn’t easy for me to talk about. But the idea that I am anything but tough on sexual predators is deeply offensive.

It is important that voters continue to see the differences between Christina “Chris G” Giunchigliani, a career special education teacher, and Steve Sisolak.
Chris is a career educator who has gotten progressive things done. She’s passed universal kindergarten, funding to build dozens of new schools, Green Building standards, and major ethics reform. And she has a record of standing up to the gun lobby and leading on marriage equality.
Steve Sisolak was previously just misrepresenting himself, but now he is misrepresenting Chris.
Steve has an appalling record on guns. He earned an A- from the NRA, and just 17 days after the One October shooting, he took $2,500 from a machine gun range that markets machine guns to 10 year olds.
